We’re all of us prone to being ‘taken in’. We want to trust, and want to be able to trust each other, because we’re social animals and understand about mutuality, altruism and so on. But we see different things in each other.

If you are a socialist you don't vote tory lite simple as that.
A once great party born out of the trades unions dumped its history to catch the tory voters.

I understand the sentiment all right. But that is, as you say, ‘history’ to a degree: membership of a trade Union in the UK fell from about 30% to about 20% [Statista] over the last 30 years (a generation). Isn’t it at least worth questioning modern Labour policy in the light of that change?
