I'm not the most social person. But i do post in artshares and repost other peoples art. I try not spam it so i don't drown peoples timelines. I also try to make sure to not repost the same person from different artshares.

i will say that theres many users who arent reposting images bc they lack alt-text

It's really important & its a key part of Bsky's etiquitte to at least give a simple description for people who are visually impaired

I’m seeing people being upset less people are sharing others art lately but I’m thinking people still have that old toxic Twitter mindset, reject everything you’ve learned from Twitter algorithms

You can still grow your own account and support others at the same time without punishment

Btw you don’t need your account to be “clean” or “aesthetically only your art” to grow, this platform is very forgiving and rewarding even if you posted your animal crossing screenshots 👍

Think of it this way, Bluesky is the opposite of Twitter

Twitter: resharing small posts, hashtags, @ ing , links, resharing/posting/liking/replying too much = shadow ban

Bluesky: resharing small posts, hashtags, @ ing , links, resharing/posting/liking/replying too much = NO shadow ban

The tags thing especially is important cause i'll see people complain their art isn't getting seen and they don't tag it at all?? not even with art??? I really helps here I promise !!! (I mean they also don't like interact w/ people and expect others to find them but that's a whole nother problem)

FR!! Also worse they don’t even use ALT text, some Bluesky users don’t reshare art without ALT text and you can even use hashtags or the words you need in it; I don’t need hashtags because ALT text works way better imo also makes it easier for others

And while I understand that presence eventually turns into money for those who make a living, I’d also hope that folks would be able to find value in a social platform beyond the likes and re-posts. Community and socialization has value.

I never knew this was actually a thing and problem! I looked it up, and I see it’s an algorithm issue. Annoying.

I’ll keep this in mind for the future! Thanks for bringing this issue to my attention, even if it wasn’t the original intent of the post.
