Oh he was probably inspired by his travels to India where sandals are standard attire, but recognizing that bare feet are considered "iffy" in most public settings in the western world, he starts a fashion trend!
The socks started in 1963 or earlier. I think this one is from their trip to the Canary Islands. There are photos from him from the filming of Help! wearing them too. I think he got better eventually. No socks in the 80s and 90s. 😂
We British men have a long sad history of wearing socks with sandals. There’s actual evidence that it started with the Romans. So I guess we’re following Italian style.
How very modernist of you! In the States it seemed to be a bohemian/hippie kind of thing and it's always personally irked me. George is perfect in all ways so I guess he needed one flaw... 😉
There was a property programme on in UK a few months ago; Kenwood has been up for sale for a long time. They showed what changes had been made. These windows (now) and the Beatles picture featured. Unrelated, but a friend of mine’s mum used to visit and play with Julian.
Thanks for the clarification. I withdraw my argument re: location although I am sure those are George's own sandals. That's actually cool about Julian though.

I for one, (definitely maybe the only one out here) I’m glad for it.
There were glimpses before, but he really began to show his songwriting strength from Revolver onwards.
