No matter your religion or lack there of, if you care about humanity and decency, you mourn deeply the loss of Pope Francis. He was a tower of decency and a true moral force, perhaps the only one who commanded widespread respect.

Humility is not seen often in this way but Pope Francis always supported the idea, the goal for all no matter who they were.
His first words on becoming Pope were the humble “Pray for me”
Yes. Very much not religious and not catholic. However, very much knowing that the world and its people need far-seeing leaders like Francis and fearing that we may not see his like again. Hoping another of his ilk rises to speak in a commanding manner upon the world stage.
Who by his refusal to allow women in the priesthood stood again in the way of tearing down the patriarchal societies which continue to harm all people. He was a “better” pope, but ignoring his influence on the continued subjugation of women is … to be expected. World do better.
Established religions are by nature very conservative. No pope is ever going going to shake the very foundations of church, no matter how much sense it makes. "Who are we to judge "

Now, for the record, I don’t much believe in that stuff.
But whatever happens to me when I take the long Dirt Nap, I’m not going anywhere if my pets aren’t there too.
