Having just read it, I agree. There is lots about the benefit to employers, landlords and the government- all of whom can be trusted not to misuse personal information, right?

It makes conclusions about what a brilliant idea it is, with no reasoning to back up its claims.
Also, it seems to presume that voter id is inherently good.
Brit id as a name is a serious issue not mentioned.

I wonder what the background of the writer is- this piece reads like a clumsy attempt to plant the idea that ID 'cards' are a good thing.
