Neguse: There’s a ridiculous contempt provision that would essentially try to stop federal courts—or limit their ability—from enforcing contempt orders. Why? Because they know the Trump administration is losing in every federal court in the land…

Calling it "ridiculous" is irresponsible. It's an extraordinarily dangerous provision of the bill that would allow nearly complete lawlessness by this administration.
This is the part of the bill that worries me most from a legal point of view - they've buried this provision in a huge bill so they can never be found legally responsible for all the disasters contained in it.
GOP governs as if they will never be out of power. They use the power when they have it. Democrats govern as if they will be out of power and refuse to use the power when they have it.
Yes! It's absolutely appalling and I don't understand why we're not hearing about this day and night! It basically removes accountability for the Executive Branch.
This is critical and getting little attn. If federal courts lose contempt power against govt officials, the harm caused to vulnerable people under the bill will be the starting point for far worse
I would say that when it comes to policy they have the edge. But the one thing that the Democrats do not have is the assistance of Russia with covert propaganda.
GOP has been playing the long game since the 50s - Dems have not been able to put a cohesive long term strategy together to combat it....I stand firmly by my original statement!
It’s a hell of a lot easier to win when you disregard our laws, ignore & disrespect our constitution, and don’t care how many people’s lives you destroy.
Well, it's not like the courts are finding anyone from the Trump administration in contempt of the court anyway, even in the most blatantly obvious situations.
And the debt limit increase.
And giving rump the power to declare non-profit groups as “terrorists."
And surely many more of this ilk with most having nothing to do with budget, so Senate Parliamentarian should not allow.
The techbros want badly to replace currency with crypto and employees with Ai and robots. It would cripple their plans if they had to obey responsible use laws.
Ai stinks of fast money, tho, so we're going to have to wait for a big EMP event to save us from ourselves. 🤷
They won’t follow the law anyway but the government doesn’t need to make it easier for them. Nothing will ever change until Citizens United is overturned. Everyone is for sale.
Provisions in a bill that is privileged to avoid the filibuster under reconciliation must be budget related in some way affecting spending, taxes, or revenue.
Exempting AI from state regulation and restrictions on court injunctions & restraining orders probably are allowable under reconciliation.
The MAGAts are right now in the process of that hostile takeover.
And soon, there will be no one left being able to put on effective resistance against them as the MAGAts are breaking down any opposition one by one, carefully times.
And the last you will hear from the Dems is "...but that book!" ⬇️
The most dangerous aspect of this bill is the trump trying to tie the hands of the courts. It may mean that only a civil war will bring us back from this dictator-in-waiting. No more voting, no free press, and nothing but poverty for all of us. Just like Russia, China, N Korea, etc.

It allows Dump and his party of traitorous lackeys unfettered power over the judiciary.
GOP are trying to *castrate the power* of our judiciary!
Such a provision would make the judiciary pointless & powerless, if there are no consequences for breaking the law!
Sound the ALARMS @Democrats.org & ALL independent media!
#NoKings #ChecksAndBalances
Without the ability to enforce contempt, any order from the court is just an op-ed.
I'm not sure it is but, if not, it should be!
I’m sure their parliamentarian will allow it anyway.
Trump never cared to make America great and is partaking in the largest transfer of wealth from the middle class to the wealthy.
These mother fuckers need to be taken out of office for good
Decades huh 😂🤣?!

The answer is a resounding, "YES, WE WOULD."
We've proved it over and over again and again and again.
Exempting AI from state regulation and restrictions on court injunctions & restraining orders probably are allowable under reconciliation.
even Republican Congress is divided on it
Dems have been fighting in Congress
GOP would love folks to fight Dems instead
we can all agree
those with too much should help
and those with less can be helped

Shit happens if you underestimate the enemies.
