I heard a figure today that the cost of disability benefits per capita is in actual fact no greater than it was at the start of the coloation govt.

2023-24: £48 billion on PIP & ESA, equivalent to £710 per capita (annually) given 67.8 million population.
£1 in 2010 is worth £1.64 today, though.
So real cost p.c. increased ~3 times (300%)
