I already hated the stupid ancient alien conspiracy theories. I hate those theories even more because every time it's some white history channel dip-shit talking about how people couldn't have built X thing...
Cause it's always some absurd statement about "Oh, X brown people couldn't have built Y thing so it must have been aliens!" And it's always said with zero evidence or hell, even research into the construction of those landmarks....
Stone henge is the only "white people landmark" I hear talked about like this but it's usually not. It's absolutely a racist thing, even if they never admit it. They have that 1800's pseudo-scientist racist mindset.
There's a bit of this with the (inevitable bullshit magnets) the Knights Templar. I can't remember the exact details, but it was something to do with the alignment of some of their French fortresses
complete with the inevitable insulting '[this particular] modern engineer couldn't be accurate with the tools they used so there's no way they could have been accurate either either!'
You're right though in the effect is definitely multiplied if the ancient peeps come from a different culture.
There is no phrase that drives me more batty or up the wall than, "Ancient people weren't creative, they simply made art of what they saw," while at the same time not bothering to learn the first thing about the culture that might give context for whatever "conclusions" are drawn.
That just reminds me of how the Romans viewed the English as a superstitious and backwards society, whereas the English decided that Rome only conolized them because they were so friggin' awesome.
I think there’s a lot of discussion about why the romans didn’t go as far as Scotland, as in, what mighty Scottish force prevented them from doing so. The answer’s probably bad weather. They must have gotten fed up with it by that point.🤭
"Alright men, we've trained you to be a part of the fiercest fighting force this world has ever known! Now we're gonna head north and... You know what, those big bastards hiding in the woods are actually kind of terrifying, let's um, let's just build a big wall instead."

Tell them that the human species originated in Africa and watch their heads explode
No, it’s not peak for humanity, it’s peak for England’s weaker ancestors! 🤣
