Sadly my husband has been booked numerous times over the past 6 months, and every time the session has been cancelled. He’s given up trying. He’s a 20-time donor and it’s so frustrating when they’re crying out for donations.

Yes, similar experiences - lots of nearby venues no longer used and I've enquired why - usual HSE explanations. I've suggested alternatives which definitely would be suitable for access & HSE. Blood UK thanked me & said would follow up but that was over 2 years ago & nothing's happened sadly.

Incredibly frustrating. Our nearest venue is a fire station, but there is no public parking (free or paid) within reasonable walking distance. So pretty pointless even trying to book when they do allow you to attend. I hate to be negative but they don’t help themselves

Yes, I understand the pressure they are under in terms of bureaucracy but they also need to be realistic about how much time people can realistically give up - I often end up having a 1.5 hour round trip to donate. 10 years ago I could walk to a hall in our town. Elderly donate a lot but only local

I'm O negative and have had a couple of times where I've driven 45 mins for an appointment and the session is cancelled on arrival - they sent a text to cancel while I was driving there. We all understand things can go wrong but a call would have been so much more sensible mid drive than a SMS

Booked in for next available slot after my last. Our company does blood drives on a regular basis and go to the nearest centre together. It's great, easy and free to do. Such an easy way to make a real difference.

I’m a plasma donor but I have no idea when I can make my next donation as I’m on a rolling suspension until I’ve had minor outpatient surgery. First diagnosed May 24, still awaiting the op after two consultations. The average waiting list time keeps going up, 14-18 weeks now! #NHS 🤬
