The two leading gubernatorial candidates to replace Biden last summer, had Harris not been coronated, were Whitmer and Newsom and yet, bizarrely, weirdly, both of them this year seem bent on wrecking their chances of ever getting near the Democratic presidential nomination again.

The rest of us don't have to help Michigan and Pennsylvania mitigate those choices.

For some other fucking party.
It's tiresome.
Good legislators get results for constituents
Gaming the system to try to seem not so much one of "the libs" is not what this moment calls for in Democratic Party leadership.
I wish she were not pandering but I understand her wanting to show Michigan that she will put the interests of the state before politics.
Already gone.
This is what they do. Hillary losing to Obama can never equal the undertow.

I can only assume to attract the elusive/mythical Republican moderate. But they would first have to get through a primary to need to ... 🤷♂️

right now.😢
She looks like a fucking moron.
She went from maybe the next president to a collaborator.
That's the glee.
Also dems on the same day: we give unanimous consent to confirm Matt Whitaker as ambassador to the UN.
A spectacular failure, regardless.
It's a red state in a first-past-the-post system. All that matters are purple states.
Is that point just lost on you? He's been relentlessly attacked, and his approval is still *the highest* of any senator.
Does it mean he doesn't get an endorsement from Planned Parenthood? Does it mean he had to steal data?
Say that.
Trump has a cabinet of billionaires.
He wants Medicare for All, a single payer healthcare system, for example.
People see him as anti-establishment because he doesn't take PAC money, and he has been saying the same things for decades.
Money in politics propping up effective propaganda got us into this mess.
The democratic party voter base was lied to repeatedly as well. I don't really blame those voters. The party leaders, however, are at fault for their lies.
I see no reason to give Whitmer a break, or Michigan voters. Their price is cheap.
Fuck off, hack.
Once again, Democrats are playing by an old rulebook that their opponents lit on fire decades ago.
Likewise, Gavin's embrace of RW guests AND their ideas on his podcast is a huge misstep.
Right now Pritzker looks good, but the Gaza statements will be a problem.
Imagine Gretchen running for Prez in a couple years -- EVERY ad run by an opponent (including in the Dem primary, probably) will feature that photo of her covering her face. It's a huge liability.
Trump has blackmail dirt on most anyone he comes up against...
