My view is if the Democrats all embraced a policy of no corporate money/millionaire donors and no stock trading they’d win a lot of hearts and minds who see them as compromised

Perhaps but this doesn't seem to appeal to the majority, just those engaged with the situation & who have already decided to never vote dem because they saw one pick up a nickel of the street, or have some extreme, fringe belief they won't compromise on. A clear, easy to understand message is needed
I agree with the no stock trading, 100% — the conflict-of-interest and the potential for corruption is painfully obvious. Only Dems have actually proposed such a ban, btw., but they need a majority to pass the law and a Pres who will sign it.
💯, but if a nonspecific spectre of possible insider trading is the thing holding someone back from voting Democratic, they were never gonna vote Democratic to begin with. There's another party that almost specializes in corruption and insider trading, and does so more heavily by orders of magnitude.
But this speaks to the idea that this isn’t “rational” the way it’s not a linear scale. I think most people today know the Republican brand is cutthroat selfishness- they just want some of that to benefit them.
Whereas Dems say they’re about goodness and light, but then they quietly act selfishly.
