Days later, Register of Copyrights Shira Perlmutter was also fired after publishing a report that AI training is probably not fair use of copyrighted material. In other words, the data that generative AI has used to train ChatGPT, Elon Musk’s GROK and xAI, etc. is legally stolen.

This week, the Trump Administration has attempted to install administration loyalists at the Library of Congress instead. DOGE has also attempted “improper” conversations with library employees and requested the “unauthorized transfer of data.
