Such erudite analysis she's provided on the reality of today, where fascists love America and radical leftist commies hate it and want to like make it not great again.
History isn't a story - it's a research discipline. We find out what happened and (attempt to) explain why.
Finding out WHAT happened is the supposedly easy part, and that bit is still really hard. I have spent hundreds of hours counting births deaths just to try to get a population estimate
☝️☝️☝️ And importantly, WHO was impacted and who benefited most from those actions.
You might really appreciate this new book that @nathanjrobinson.bsky.social & Chomsky wrote. It’s a phenomenal synopsis of US foreign policy & provides a good (if sobering) sense of the depravity we are capable of.
“Accentuate America’s uniqueness” is not exactly how I would describe the party that just ripped DEI to shreds and said that diversity isn’t our greatest strength
Also, Nazis aren’t very unique
She’s right about the left though. We need to stop crying about fascism and just let them oppress us 🙄
Hey Pamela if 1.2% history majors is abysmal, what would be the optimal number? Should there be more or less? How many different majors are there in total and should more engineers study history or the other way around? What about nursing, pol sci or econ? Why are we talking about this number?
Crazy thought ... how about just teaching history as it happened? Genocides will speak for themselves, as will acts of nonviolent heroism. Smart people understand that no country or its people are purely good or evil. Give students some credit.
I love how it’s Americas uniqueness and greatness unless you want to include the accomplishments of black people from history. Then it’s woke mind virus

We need to stop treating history as a political debate and treat it as a social science.
Let the results influence our policies absolutely. But don't go in thinking you know the answers
Then I started counting the cows.
#CowCountingIsHistoryToo

Brilliant, truly
And 1/3 of this country is onboard!
And how those historians tell "the story of America" is: according to the best current understanding of the available evidence. It's not spin. Jeez.
Idk. Maybe they should just honestly tell what happened? Crazy idea, right!
