We're living in a media cover up society.
The I, newspaper is fairly unbiased imo.
The truth is not always forthcoming in most publications, and that goes for TV too.
Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.
#Andor give it a watch, great show.
Like when newspapers claimed the radio broadcast of The War of the Worlds caused mass panic.
This story was false, newspapers were worried that the radio was going to make them obsolete so they tried a false narrative to get the government and people to fear its invention and common use.
This warning should be on every newspaper stand in the UK by law. We could even mandate them to print it on every front cover, similar to what we do with tobacco products. They're just as dangerous; if not more so.
I was born in Sevenoaks and we always have called it the Tory graph.
My grandfather who was born in 1908 would always tell me only ever believe 5% of what you read, and once journalists fear free speech believe nothing. Journalism now is just a paid job where you ordered to change your words.
I don't agree with this. A distrust in the media only does more of a disservice because people won't do the research. They will turn to alternative media, social and podcasts and that will be worse. The legacy media hasn't quite yet put out a non factual tint to their reporting.
While I agree with all of your points and it’s socially evident, the main reason I struggle with trusting legacy media is selective reporting. I wish I could trust that they were actually reporting on the most important current events without leaving anything out or adding spin to the story
I try to keep that in mind when looking at newspaper or magazine archives. The stories are interesting, but definitely reflect the prevailing attitudes of their time, also the opinions of editors and owners of the time in question. Useful info, but definitely not the "final word" on the past.

Only believe half of what you see, and even less of what you read.

I haven't even seen a newspaper, in, I don't know how long.

And yet another one bites the dust today... The 233-year-old Observer.
