When my kids were younger, we saw a dude dressed as Santa flying down the NJ Turnpike by Newark in a lime green lambo. We told them that's how he delivered around the airport because reindeer mix up the air traffic controllers.
We used to have a life sized Santa on our porch. I always worried some little kid would come by as I was taking his head off and putting it in a plastic bag 😂😳
I’d tell them - firefighters don’t go grocery shopping in their fire trucks. Same deal for Santa and his sleigh. And finish with: ‘Do you think astronauts take a rocket to go to the playground?’
The firefighters at my local station would like a word. I have definitely seen them pull up at the grocery store and the local coffee shop in their truck.
I've lied to people. When you work with dementia clients, sometimes a lie is the kindest thing one can do, because if you tell them the truth: "Dad died last year" they end up emotionally reliving the worst news possible.
My nephews went thru this. What we told them. "Santa's magic is strongest on Christmas. It's the only time his sleigh and the reindeer can fly. Every other day, he's like the rest of us and has to use cars, planes, or trains to get where he wants to go"
We had an incident at church years ago when the preschoolers spotted Mrs. Claus out of season. She quickly caught on and explained that she was picking up supplies for the North Pole. You should have seen the pure awe on their little faces. Like she was a rockstar.
about 20 years ago, i bought a not-in-a-box giant inflatable santa. a little kid saw me stuffing santa into the trunk of my car and started crying. to this day, i harbor guilt about that
