tl;dr this led to me learning how our house is even more fucked up than i previously thought so might just have a tech come in to deal with that shit

I'm kinda surprised MoCA isn't more well known or at least discussed, it seems like the perfect solution for a lot of cases where you're too far from the router to feasibly use ethernet (assuming there's good coaxial wiring where you live)
