Oh my god... I do believe this happened to me before. I've also had many incidents of "why isn't it turning on?!?!" with various devices over the years, only to realise it isn't plugged in ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
As I was about to get there, I checked my pockets and thought I forgot my wallet. When I got home, I went into my pocket to get the keys to open the door, and sure enough, I had my wallet on me the entire time.
looked through the house for my glasses, checked the car, riffled my purse...assumed I'd left them somewhere, walked by a mirror and there they were...top of my head.
It’s like looking for glasses when they are up on your head or searching for your mobile phone that you lost using the flashlight on your mobile phone.
🤣🤣
Welcome to the wonderful world of desktop support. Just remember this the next time we ask you on the phone if it's plugged in properly... Because it happens far more often than you think. Nice work though...
i no joke couldn't figure out why my fortnite audio was just not working at all, real life thought there was some issue with my speakers and it didn't occur to me ONCE in the several minutes I was fiddling around that the game might be muted 💀
I’m so used to leaving txts (with punctuation) instead of voice msgs that once I left “this is Nancy comma and my number is … period I look forward to hearing from you period” for the local Parks and Rec Office. 🤦♀️
Just curious (for my yet-to-happen psychology PhD thesis): Do you wear glasses and occasionally mislay them? Yet you were aware that you were wearing them when troubleshooting your audio issues? Or perhaps your oft-mislaid keys were clearly visible on the desk in front of you? You get the idea...
Here's one for you: reached for my glasses the other morning and they weren't on the nightstand. I started looking around to see if they'd fallen off the nightstand. Then it dawned on me that I could SEE the floor perfectly. I'd fallen asleep with my glasses on & somehow kept them on all night.
I just got new speakers for my new PC....messed with it for 15 minutes and was getting mad because they weren't turning on even though the computer showed them. Anyway, the power cord wasn't even plugged into the main speaker.
I once thought my fingerprint sensor was not working properly and reinstalled all the drivers for it on my PC without realizing that I had latex gloves on.
Yesterday, I was blessing a track out for its "terrible audio". After fiddling with things for a bit I realized that the "tuner" had accidentally been knocked out of its place on my cordless Seinnheisers. 🎧
I remember panicking because I thought I had lost my cell phone, spent 10 mins frazzled running all over the house, the car. My daughter pulls up from work and asks what’s wrong. Told her my Dilemma. She raised her brow and asked, “what do you have in your hand” (I was also carrying my coat)
This reminds me of one time my father tried to turn on one of his gadgets (he's a tech lover), spent 10 minutes trying to understand why the thing was not starting only for my mother to point out that the power cord was not connected to the outlet. 🤣
Lol man I had something similar but my audio was acting up on my capture card. It was mainly all my input sounds were off. All it was that my laptop wanted to have it's own filter and I had to turn it off
At least once a week I go through the reverse "oh no my speakers died!!!!"

"Never mind, all good here, left the earbuds I'm not wearing plugged in"
I was so tired driving home from a long project that my hand moved to find the mouse when I pulled my car in. I realized I was trying to 'save' my driving session, and my career had officially ruined my brain.
I was once on a train watching Die Hard on my laptop and my headphones seemed weirdly quiet even at max volume. I only realised they were only half plugged in after the guy beside me moved. I felt a little embarassed, but glad to have the row to myself
lol I was looking for my seeing glasses for so long ( of course having seeing glasses on should help one find something easier) and I could not find them until I looked in the mirror and saw them on my head.
I once spent nearly an hour troubleshooting headphones that were not plugged in, and a half hour (and two reboots) on a printer that was, similarly, not plugged in
The other day I revived an old iPod Touch and spent an embarrassing amount of time trying to get it to pair with my external speaker… before I realized the reason I couldn’t find the damn bluetooth settings on it is because it doesn’t have bluetooth. 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ #solidarity #longweek
It’s hot here and I sat in the car wondering if the a/c system was broken - no cool air. Then realised I’d set the air knob to recycling air not cooling a/c
I can't tell you how many times -when I've first gotten up in the morning-and tried to operate the tv in the kitchen with the remote that I carried from the bedroom. Every time it happens, the answer never presents itself immediately.
I heard of a nurse who thought their patient had died (just passed out) because the pulse oximeter fell off their finger and there was no bipping pulse noise, hahahaha
Yeah, I've spent 2 days trying to find out why my game isn't working on #lutris under #linux. Today by mistake I've found out that I deleted #nvidia drivers and it was running on #nouveau. #fml

Speakers weren't working. Spent half an hour checking every control panel, reinstalling drivers, power cycling...
Turned out, they had just merely gotten unplugged somehow. I blamed the cat.
I've been there too 😔
Then by accident one day while adjusting the monitor my hand slid to the back and lifted the camera from its safety/lock position
