As a little kid I *loved* ochre stars. They were my favorite tide pool finds, in their vivid purples and oranges. Later I forgot to cherish them, until sea star wasting disease wiped the coast clean in 2014. Now I never fail to tell each one that I love them and they're doing a great job.
