Sunday afternoons in the 1960s summer were full of highs and lows. Two way Family Favourites then the Clitheroe Kid, redeemed by I’m Sorry I’ll Read That Again. 2 hours of something forgettable until Alan Freeman and the Top 40. A massive handbrake turn to Cliff Adams and Sing Something Simple.

I listened to the BBC Radio Manchester commentary of the Oldham Athletic v Southend United playoff final at Wembley. Exciting game with excellent commentary.
Took me back to those days before Sky Sports "...and your commentators are Bryan Butler and Peter Jones..."
