I didn’t foresee blind support of Israel literally destroying American higher ed & freedom of speech but wow what a clear demonstration of the mantra “none of us are free until all of us are free”.

Exactly. The erosion of academic freedom and free speech in the West is proof that oppression anywhere threatens justice everywhere. Standing for Palestine isn’t just about Palestinians—it’s about defending the very principles that are now being trampled under the weight of blind allegiance.
Often think it is good and important to emphasie that we are advocates of human rights in the broadest terms, so Khalil is seen as a human rights activist. Also think Free Speech to Free Gaza is a useful call. Last year my husband said to me Zionism destroyed democracy in Israel and it could here.
Yes. Zionism didn’t just destroy democracy in Israel—it has become a global force undermining free speech, silencing dissent, and criminalizing solidarity with oppressed people. The suppression of academic freedom and human rights advocacy in the West proves that no society is immune to its influence.
Zionism didn't destroy Israeli democracy, Israeli democracy never existed because it was founded on zionism.
On the exclusion of the majority Palestinian population & anyone else who wasn't Jewish until the colonial population grew enough for token representation
One day, when the west have gotten to a point where they can at least, pretend that zionism is evil (like they did with slavery, antisemitism, queerphobia, etc.), western academic institutions will issue pretentious and empty apologies for collaborating with israel, and the world will just move on.
