After excelling in football at the Western Canada High School, he signed with the Calgary Stampeders in 1948, winning the Grey Cup that same year.

In his CFL career, he won four Grey Cups, three Eddie James Memorial Trophies and two Schenley Most Outstanding Canadian Awards.
He was also a four time All-Star.

In 1955, he was awarded the Lionel Conacher Award as the Canadian Athlete of the Year.
Kwong was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1969.
