Most of what's popular now in country music isn't what people would consider to be traditional country. The CMAs don't even have that as a category and all they do is country music.
The Ameripolitan Awards founded by Dale Watson at least tried to rectify that fact! Sure what's population isn't real country but it still exists and it is still thriving
Best case scenario: they actually mean it, Beyoncé writes some guitar-and-vocals ballads about ghosts and trains and ghost trains, and she wins a Grammy for traditional country.

Right. That 'Rich Men North of Richmond' song was more along traditional country music than anything you hear on the radio today, which is all basically pop music with an acoustic guitar and a southern accent. 'Traditional Country' doesn't really sell, though. Curious how they'll divide the music...
