Utter nonsense. He was so far underwater he wasn't even blowing bubbles anymore. Gaza hurt him more than anyone realizes. MI is the state with 2 majority Muslim cities, but TX, NC, GA, PA ALL have large Arab/Muslim populations. Every state with a large teaching/research Hospital/Uni complex does.
Most of them did not vote for Trump. They simply did not vote the top of the ticket. I totally get it. I could barely manage. I've always had lots of Middle Eastern friends. Gaza, the occupation, it's all very real to them. And Anthony Blinken is not an honest broker. He's lied repeatedly.
You must have missed Biden's debate. He had zero chance of beating Trump. Kamala lost mostly because she was part of his failed administration and didn't distance herself from his policies or his support for genocide.
Biden didn't beat Trump, Trump lost to Biden. Anybody could've beaten Trump at that time, people were sick of him and he'd lost any narrative push because - for all his talk - everything was still basically the same as when he got into power.
I don't disagree with you there, but the point still stands that Trump wasn't beaten, he just failed to win because how bad/ineffective/embarrassing he was was fresh in everybody's mind. This year they had forgotten about it and so Trump would've won against any mainstream Democrat.
Harris had too short a runny and democratic consultant class making each other rich with TV ads instead of putting money on the ground and micro targeting
I dont think it was the ground game. I volunteered in PA, it was well staffed well Ron and had an abundance of volunteers and a lot of the people whose doors I knocked in swing counties said we were the third or fourth people there. The story is the outright misogyny in America, period!
Exactly. Vibes don't win elections, policy positions do. To be fair, enough, Biden should never have been the nominee to begin with. He ate up a lot of the clock when the country knew he needed to step aside. I blame DNC leadership
Right, because $6K when you have a kid isn’t a policy, a $25K first time homebuyers benefit isn’t a policy, or increasing the first two year new company tax deduction from $5K to $50K isn’t a policy Maybe she should have talked about Arnold Palmer‘s dick, that seems to be a winning policy, I guess.
Pelosi threw her under the bus because ALL of the old guard entertains the delusion that begging for bipartisanship is the way to go--despite all evidence to the contrary. That's why we lose. The "working class" they court --white, male, industrial, unionized, is a tiny fraction of the real deal.
we're making the mistake of thinking the dems are the left party. they're the center-right party. some of them, like pelosi, don't *want* ranked choice voting or campaign finance reform. we do and aoc does and that's why they only listen when we make them
I'm in my 60s. The Dems have been shit-scared since 1980, when they lost to Reagan. I grew up partly in Macomb Co., MI, where the Reagan Democrat was focus grouped into being in chats with people like ALL of my uncles. More auto plants in Macomb than any other County in the US. It's Trump Country.
I mean, they were right to be scared of reagan, he was the beginning of the end for this country. Iran contra, defunding the mental health apparatus, repealing the fairness doctrine, trickle down economics, the man was the worst thing to happen to america since andrew jackson, up 'til dubbya
I agree. But their entire response was to run TOWARD that shit. Not away from it. Even St Reagan couldn't get elected in today's Republican Party. He actually RAISED taxes when David Stockman admitted that the tax cuts were NOT paying for themselves. And, he worked with Tip O'Neill.
only if we give up now. I'm all for cutting the rope in the middle and letting the entire right side fall off a cliff. that is a happy mental image, thanks
Do you think that if Hillary had knocked tRump out at that debate where he was following her around, she would have won? I think he would have sucked himself up into his own sphincter.
And, when you have the ranking member of the House Democrats talking about beating swords into ploughshares to "unite" with the Republicans, it just convinces even more people who lean left to stay TF home. Dems always fold like cheap suits, begging for "unity" that does not exist.
Put Faux Noise out of business (Teddy Roosevelt would if he were alive), break up the huge monopolies like Teddy Roosevelt did.
Hell, maybe next time, when MTG lies, AOC or Jasmine Crockett needs to take her to the floor and beat her ass. Right there in front of everybody, including C-Span.
True. They need to get rid of the old fogies and come out swinging with 1000 ton hammer every time they are in power. Do a Newt Gingrich right back at the Re-FUCK-licans. Close all tax loopholes for the rich, order the FTC to ban all stock buybacks, and bring back an updated FCC Fairness Doctrine.
She DID knock him out. Didn't matter. He was already a cult figure for white, working class dudes who, contrary to popular belief, have been voting Republican more or less since 1980. Farmers, factory workers. Look at Macomb, Co. MI. More UAW members than any other place on earth. Blood red.
Remember, these are the same people who threw Bernie Sanders under the bus for more Bush Clinton Bush Clinton when Bernie campaigned for President and, essentially turned Bernie's biggest supporter(Gabbard) into a trumper
No, the DNC and/or the Biden campaign had internal polls that showed him losing the EC with Trump getting something like 400 points. It was bad, unfortunately. He couldn't withstand a campaign.
I don’t put a lot of stock in polls. Biden’s age was a factor the way Hillary’s e-mails were a factor. Republicans run a smear campaign so beautifully that democrats believe then react to it. Trump is old and shits his pants and no one cares about e-mails anymore. Dems never hold the line.
The polls were right this year though? It showed a tight race with the almost a coin toss of Trump winning. Anti-incumbency from inflation backlash was a worldwide trend.
Trump is old, awful and deranged, but he had a cult of followers who will vote for him not matter what, unfortunately.
I think Biden if he was the same age he was in 2016 would have absolutely smoked Trump, but unfortunately Biden's age was definitely catching up to him at that point, on top of his stutter which already put him at a disadvantage in things like debates.
So true, it seems with age he’s losing control over his speech impediment-plus at the time hecwas sick and exhausted from travel-not bouncing back… though he sure gave it his all.
People voted him in. With votes. Same with Hillary, who I might add won the popular vote in 2016 by 5 million votes. That’s almost 3 million more than Trump won this time in 2024.
People are screaming and begging for something that isn't the status quo and democrats just keep throwing up their hands and saying "oh well, nothing we could do. Maybe we should abandon our values on immigration and stop supporting trans folks to get more votes."
This in particular also signals pretty clearly that democrats don't even have real values they care to uphold and real, every day americans hate that plastic politician shit.
Too bad popular vote doesn't matter. Internal polling had Geno-Joe at 36% for ages before he even dropped out. How familiar are you with how the primaries went? Do we need to talk about Bernie being shafted? Or AOC, recently, for that matter?
agreed, I thought people on the left were more about personal responsibility than the right, maybe it's just human nature. idk, I'm way farther left than liberal or democrat and even I see it. silence favors the oppressor, and not voting is worse than silence
I don’t really hold much stock in polls but of course they were low when his own party was throwing him under the bus. They ran a smear campaign against their own candidate. I like Bernie and AOC. I supported Bernie originally in 2016 so I understand your frustration.
Liberals can't let socialists take power because it will hurt the bottom lines of their super wealty donors. They would rather cede ground to literal facists. This is exactly how it happened in the Weimar Republic before Hitler took power.
Yeah- so to sit here and act like there isn't massive support for candidates like Bernie or AoC among Republicans is pretty silly. Liberals are all bought. Once we recognize that the party will change.
Its too later for that. first demiocrats stab hillary in the back then they throw this fascist cop in our face after treating us like crapo and tellking us everybody loves pscho fascist karen cops. no lineral no vote. And that m,eans no voite because they aint got no liberals
I liked/admired Joe as POTUS, but he was behind in the polls for all of 2024 until he withdrew, after which Harris was (modestly) leading. To me the evidence suggests she fought Trump (held him to under 50%, led Dems to House pickups) more strongly than Biden would have.
He obviously lost on delivery, trump cant speak about policy, but debates don’t win elections. Again, I don’t hold too much stock in polls because you can’t tell the future with absolute certainty. I was angered by the calls for him to step down after I voted for him.

Besides it’s hard to be ahead in the polls when your own party is running against you.
Democrats should take responsibility and pull there heads out of their asses.
Trump won for a reason.
They are directly responsible for this. They don't actually want democracy. They want power. Thus shafting popular candidates time and time again.
Skill issue.
I'll never forget how excited and hopeful I was when Harris announced she was running instead. There's a lot of people like me.
If Democrats want to win, they need to earn votes not expect them.
