I don’t know much about Autism Speaks beyond what I’ve seen on here. Living in Scotland, they’re not really on my radar. I’d appreciate any links, so I can make up my own mind. I’m not big on just going with the consensus. What I’ve read so far makes me think they’re not for me...

As for my daughter, there’s no “training.” We’ll just try to be good parents. We’ll make mistakes, and that’s okay.
PS No rants. Seen plenty of them on this subject.
I heard:
1) no key people there are autistic.
2) they see autism as something to be cured.
3) they promote "cures" that harm people, such as ABA.
I don't know if her work on AS was also problematic, but the old AS videos she showed centered the parents and othered the autistic kids, and
my understanding is they've cleaned up their image to not be outright offensive to autistics, but still center parents and don't lift up autistic voices. though again,
it's in the wee hours of the morning here, so I'm not up for researching much, but that's what I know so far.
I do still want to know if they center actual autistics today.

if I have time and spoons we can dig into ABA
