Some things about modern tech are still amazing to me. Got my first external harddrive in ages. This is 5TB! It can store everything on my work computer with terabytes to spare! It would have been so huge a few years ago.

I remember my first external that was so big and like 500gb or something and then years later when I bought a tiny 1tb one I like quadruple checked it was 1tb because I simply could not believe it.
I hate to say it, but I’ve had a pair of those for something like five years. Great value, and I shucked one of them while the other is still plugged into my PS5.
Oh, do you mind my asking what brand this is? I'm looking to get a new external harddrive, and would like to try something different from my current one (Toshiba).
Been using these Samsung SSDs for a few years. 4TB. Bought my son one 2TB to expand his Playstation 5. I use three of these with my Mac. One mirrored to the other, and one for Time Machine and some other backups. Great. And silent. No spinning HD noise at all. Same with the Mac. Silent.
The first PC I cobbled together had a 40MB hard drive, the 2nd 540MB , which seemed like loads. The phone I'm currently using has a thousand times that 2nd PC's storage, inc SD card, and is quite old. In fact, it has many times that much in RAM!
They seem able to keep fitting more and more data onto these devices, which I find kind of mad. How do they do it? What process makes it possible to fit more on there than you could three years ago?
And I would recommend having at least three drives to hold the same identical data… ‘cos one WILL break down eventually and one should be kept off-premises in case of fire.

If hard drives get any smaller one will end up going through the wash.
2TB! Barely bigger than a fingernail!
What a thing that is.
Last external hd I bought was, I think, 200 gb? Been a minute. And I still have memory sticks that are just 250 mb or less.
