Redesigning my studio after the move, I had one rule:
The more often I use a thing, the closer to hand it should be.
I'm trying to minimize the need to get up, turn around, or search for things, which too often ruins my concentration.
It's my kinetic Strunk and White; omit needless motions!

Just had the itch to draw and my brain was like, "nah, too much work, let's keep coding"
Space management is another one too.
I am finding it increasingly more annoying when I find certain activities that take more time than they should - even if only a few seconds.
Working towards maximum efficacy regarding time management.
And it feels soooooooo good.
Will look into "point of performance."
Your fysiotherapist might want to have a word...
Yes, it's an interesting philosophical debate harkening back to typewriters & the QWERTY keyboard, but I've come to believe that when a pause is beneficial, there's always a meaningful way to accomplish it.
And if that fails, there's always my ever-more-frequent bathroom breaks! 🤷♂️
(Point of use storage.)
Most factories are set up that way.
It's surprising that people don't just do this.
fuck your studio.
Now please excuse me while I log off and get back to work! 🏃♂️
This is something that could help others who may be in a similar place, or who's workspaces have turns into absolute chaos.
Me, I tossed Strunk & White onto my pile of TBR books and scribbled down all the stories I say out loud when asked; so one day people would read them and maybe help one another.
Optimize workflow!!!
Same idea works for quilters too.
You'd be surprised how often looking for and grabbing a different color pen can derail your train of thought
Good luck with the new digs!
although now i'm curious water and caffeine system? to make sure you drink enough water?
While my wife is all, "everything in it's place."
If I have to go digging through stuff, and lift stuff out to get the item I need, then that that item was "in the wrong place".
That's why the flour was on the kitchen countertop for a few weeks.
...which is just another way of saying that I suck at "mise en place"
It makes for a very messy office.
Good luck with your organization!
(Maybe I should buy myself a label machine for Christmas?)
