Regarding movies. Please stop with the “scoop” and long lens spy shots of who or what is going to be in a film. Stop the teasers for the trailers. Just let people watch films without forcing them to know what’s going to happen beforehand. I close my eyes for certain trailers in the cinema. - ThreadSky

It’s so telling of how short attention spans are that there’s literally a splash teaser for the trailer you’re about to watch, at the start of it. Like, can’t brains stay focused for the 2.5seconds before the trailer begins?

Yes. I know lots of films are made by algorithms to the point that they just become a box ticking exercise and that makes me sad.

I just don’t see the point in spoiling a film for yourself just to go see it to say: yes that’s exactly what it said it would be and all the events predicted occurred.

Yes, people can avoid stuff when they know what’s being presented to them.

If a film based social media just posts spoiler pictures without any warning on their feed or just random folks who snap onset pics and post them that’s ruining a film for someone just so you can post that you were there.

Along those lines, I was discussing how I've fallen out of love with some films and franchises. I think a lot of it is due to them being EVERYWHERE and never ending, there is no break, there is not chance to build anticipation, it is relentless marketing and/or shoving clips/pics in my face.

When a franchise starts from something unexpected, a small film with no intention of going further can be fun and exciting for a while but eventually it pushes even the most loyal fans away.

Not everything has to have 4 sequels and a tv spinoff.

But established IP helps get things made.

There's using existing IP and then just flooding a market with derivatives. Went to the cinema with one child recently, all the trailers were remakes. Not one single new film, even from an existing IP, just remakes.

Hollywood has lost its bottle. TV seems the place for new, although seems a battle

A bad trailer can also put you off a great film, as they tend to push what they think will get a broad audience to sit and watch it rather than give a true idea of what it’s all about. Look up the trailers for your favourite films and they’re often pretty mediocre and misleading.

Oof. Yeah. Some old trailer for what are now established classics are usually terrible.
