This is an excellent example of how the Republican Party is a political party- an ideological apparatus operated to achieve political goals- and the Democratic Party is a country club for wealthy safe-seat donor buddies.

In a piece that’s harder to graph, up-and-coming Republican staffers often get parked at places like the Heritage Foundation between campaigns so they can get paid and keep making connections. Democratic staffers don’t have the same options and end up unemployed or working temp jobs.
