It would be a tax on women - having to pay for new certified copies, probably several in case they lose one, in order to be sure they can use single-sex facilities.

Specifically, will be a tax on BWOC, older women, women who don't confirm to white Western notions of "feminine appearance."

Yes! The birth certificate means that it won't exclude trans people with a GRC anyway. The whole thing is unworkable (as we knew perfectly well).

Speaking of which, I doubt gyms, men's toilet attendants, etc. will ask men for their birth certificates. Patriarchal norms dictate that you don't publicly question if a man is "manly enough." Fine asking women, as judging women's "femininity" is "normal." 🙄

I know exactly where mine is because I needed it for CRB/VB checks when I had the school job so put all my "ID" docs into a folder I kept safe, before that it had wondered between storage units

It feels like the only answer to anywhere that does adopt this is to question the gender of absolutely everyone entering the premises, if they're asking any trans women for their birth certificate then I expect them to ask for mine too

A long time ago my wife and I were asked for our marriage license to get a hotel room together in China. We pointed out that, even if we had it, it would have been in English, which they wouldn't be able to understand.
