I recall reading that Boras wants the Soto situation handled by Christmas. I can easily see Soto signing by the last day of the winter meetings.

I feel there's a difference between being patient at the plate and being patient outside of the game. He seems to be a mad with a system that gets very annoyed when that system gets messed with(see his interactions in hitting meetings), so I think he wants to know where he's playing quickly

The Nats offered him a nice chunk of money if he just wanted to get paid and be settled. I’m pretty sure the Padres threw numbers at him too. He stayed the course to get the most money possible and it’s still gonna come down to that

That's definitely what it's going to come down too, though Nats was in part the unknown Future & SD never officall talked numbers. But, i meant that if the best offers are already submitted, he'll tell Boras he's accepting it instead of waiting around to hopefully squeeze a few more millions out.

Also because as we've seen in the last couple years. Teams are finally calling Boras' bluff and not playing his game. Plus there's only 5 teams that are really serious about Soto, which limits Boras' cards to play.

The signings in 2023-24 are forcing him to rethink his approach. There were a lot of unhappy clients, and a lot of teams who dug in their heels on prices.

I completely agree. While other tiers of free agents may succumb to the waiting game, there’s no need for Soto to. He’s Juan Soto. Put the money on the table and move on.

That being said, I can totally see Bregman having a Montgomery type winter after that first report🤣

Seems critical for the NYY that it doesn’t drag out. The path forward without Soto is more complicated and letting other pieces fall while they sit on the sidelines would seem like a problem. So even though they also like to wait and let others set the market I don’t think they can do that now.

It can’t drag out. It literally changes the team (Mets, Yankees anyone) plans for the rest of the offseason. If anything if i were a team I’d make an offer and say “this offer expires on…” because we need to move on
