OK. It's my understanding that a court order (such as the one we're talking about for action to take place.. Federal Marshalls)...to initiate that it goes through a chain of 'command/federal law agency heads to the DOJ. With that said I very well may have misunderstood the process. I hope I did!
No. They are administratively supervised by DOJ but they serve the federal judiciary. They follow the orders of the federal judges. DOJ can’t tell them to arrest someone unless they get a warrant signed by a federal judge.
No. DOJ is just for administrative oversight, like audits, compliance with federal regs, etc. Think of the marshals as the attack dogs of the judiciary who obey only their commands.
I hope you’re right. Every time so far I thought someone whose job it was would obviously not let trump get away with something, I’ve been disappointed.
It totally understandable that you feel that way. The good news is that the judiciary is much harder to control. They have lifetime appointments so it’s hard to threaten them. Even the Supreme Court—Roberts has already issued a warning seemingly aimed at Trump.
