But my favourite is Ahtapot Beğendi. This Beğendi thing is so confusing for translators. It comes from a dish called Hünkar Beğendi (lit: The Emperor liked it), and Beğendi became the name for any dish with an eggplant/bechamel sauce base.

No, probably grilled octopus that sits on a bechamel sauce/smoked eggplant puree. Beğendi is quite tasty, actually. You can think of it as a side dish.
