I know many of us feel for the victim and how after 10 years she has still not received justice but I would also like to point out that a person was held in jail for 7 years WITHOUT a trial! That is unconscionable. Massive failure of our justice "system" on all sides.

From the look of the timeline it wasn't him w/ the exception of time to ponder potential pleas. It was his lawyers who seemed unprepared, scattered, too busy, switched out, uninterested, and of course Covid. Either way, nobody should sit in jail for 7 years without a trial. It's unconstitutional.

I agree. Alaska has a huge problem that needs to be resolved. Are citizens raising hell or are they apathetic?

But, as far as this case goes, he's a psychopath, so letting him out pre-trial is out of the question. I doubt this incident was his first horrific assault, & it won't be his last.

This seems like a weird case because the defendant kept asking for delays but was keeping himself in prison for most of that 10 years. You would think a person innocent or guilty wouldn't delay for the sake of delay to stay in jail waiting trial
