41% of babies born are covered by Medicaid. 35% of disabled adults are on Medicaid. Over 60% of nursing home patients are on Medicaid. The most expensive Medicaid group are those in nursing homes who can’t work! This isn’t even about saving money. It’s cruelty and punishing those who need help.

Outsourcing the work is not the problem in and of itself. It's who they chose to outsource it to. A team of small, local companies could do this work more efficiently and effectively, but states often go right to the big guys, who are rarely effective for the price the charge.

I get it. Up until Friday, I was a proposal manager for a smaller government contractor (sigh--federal mess got to us). The big program integrators--Deloitte, Booz Allen, Palantir, ICF...I could go on. They get hired more on name recognition than approach. The smalls have to fight for everything.
