Unless the system as a whole is reevaluated, another Right-wing populist will eventually come into power. First there was Nixon, then Reagan, now Trump. Adding more diverse people into the system doesn't really prevent that from happening

It does get people who were fired erroneously back to work. I think you do need jobs and a functioning middle class of people in order to promote the type of government we should have. That isn't a prescription to fix the populist issues, just undo the damage.

A lot of legislation would be needed to fix the social and economic issues in the country. Something New Deal level of big, and an honest way to deal with bringing down the deficit. But that's speculation which would require more thought than a Bluesky post would allow.

I worked as a fed. investigator during Pres. Obama's last year in office. Black federal contractors were often terminated, in some cases losing their security clearance. When I would interview their former white colleagues to find out the reason, there was none. Racism is systemic.
