I think an issue is how emotional narratives take primacy over facts in our degraded media landscape. People can use "facts" found on FB to validate any belief. Right wing media excels at pushing emotional narratives to connect with audiences, finding supportive "facts" as an afterthought.

Left media would benefit from losing the assumption the truth alone will change minds. Narratives need to be framed to meet audiences where they are at, with an eye for what events mean for audiences.

The most depressing development from the past decade is the willingness by people on the right to lie knowing that the people listening to them know that they are lying and don't care as long as they "win" in the end. The liars are being given enthusiastic permission by their supporters to lie.

I don't think we should lie to win. But we should maybe acknowledge that it is human and okay to hold (seemingly or actually) contradictory feelings/views at the same time.

That's not the same thing as there not being an objective reality, but it does acknowledge that people are complex!
