“When we’re talking about an app that might be able to look at your entire computer, that is really disturbing,” said Corynne McSherry, legal director at the Electronic Frontier Foundation, a nonprofit organization that advocates for online privacy.
It’s already bad enough that customer service gets outsourced to foreign call centers who don’t speak idiomatic English (or Spanish) and are just reciting lines from a script and repeat “I completely understand, sir” when they don’t, but AI chatbot service would be way worse.

This sounds like a bad idea to nearly everyone. So, get ready for the dystopian hard-sell about how we all need this and how it will drastically improve our lives. Then it will come pre-installed on all 4 major OSs. It will be difficult and confusing to opt out of.
Being blind, there are times when I’d love someone to operate my PC for me, especially on the vast majority of websites which are not fully accessible with a screen Reader. But I’m not going to let AI take over. It’s answers to simple questions aren’t always right, so this could go horribly wrong.
