Isn't the line that there's no such thing as anti-white racism? This program is explicitly discriminatory against whites, clearly there is such a thing
I wouldn't call it racism, but possibly discrimination. It isn't a belief in white inferiority. When I was applying to colleges back in the 90s, these policies bothered me because I did not understand why they existed. I saw an obstacle for me. I didn't see if was removing an obstacle for others.
Right, there's nowhere on Earth where whites are on the bottom of a racist system, but there are plenty of situations in which they can be discriminated against, often as in this case in the name of anti-racism
Sometimes it is fair. Sometimes, not. I've seen cases where a minority leader didn't hire white people "to get back at whitey." And I've seen where a minority was hired into an all-white team because they were as qualified as other candidates and brought a new perspective to the group.
Isn't only the first one discriminatory? Hiring a perfectly qualified person isn't discrimination just because they're a different race from the rest of the team
When fact checking, I found the meaning I was taught is the *2nd* definition, "to be able to see the difference between two things or people." The 2nd case could be argued to meet that definition. I do see where a white candidate would be upset because they could not possess the deciding factor. /1
