In the 1950s, Commoner was part of a team measuring levels of strontium-90 in children’s deciduous teeth. Strontium-90 is created by atomic testing and absorbed into teeth through water and dairy products. The tests showed a steady rise in strontium-90, leading to the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. /2
