I briefly met him and Robert Redford at a political rally at a campaign fundraiser in CT when I was a teenager.
He was a handsome and intelligent man who quietly fought for Democrats in CT.
I thought so also. Yes, they had star power, but they were also very savvy about politics. That was not something that was discussed prominently back in those days, but when they did, you KNEW they understood.
My late mother had previously met Redford at a different rally in CT. When she had heard that both Redford and Newman would be at a rally in our then-hometown, she took me along so I could be at the rally.
