Yesterday someone asked me why the black community was mostly sitting the #HandsOff protests out.

This is why.

Today at the protest downtown, white organizers with 50501 called the police on a vendor for selling Black Panther merchandise in their protest even though he only had a small table and stayed out of the public right of way.

That's a stretch, but even if I agreed with you, having a "questionable character" isn't a crime. He wasn't a threat to anyone's safety, but the cops are *most definitely* a threat to his. Every adult in the US knows that.

I think the protestors were being ultra-cautious to not have their permit violated because it could undermine the effort. I have seen the police were making everyone move their vehicles, not just him. Could this caution include latent racism? Sure. But it doesn’t seem to have been blatant.

I'm cautious to start calling out groups without all the facts as it all feels a bit designed to fracture us in the moment.

Conservatives often say that Black people who call out racism are "divisive." That's the sort of argument you're using here, even if it's unintentional.

Calling out a problem cannot fracture a movement, but letting the problem* go unchecked can.

It's good, regardless of whether or not this happened, for us to be mindful of the fact that there are *plenty* of white people who oppose Trump because he'll hurt *them.* They've got no problem with his racism, because they're racist too.
