If they did, I haven't noticed. He's a brand now and can be just as effective politically outside of Congress, than inside. In fact, he's never been effective in Congress, so replacing him will be a boon for the state of Vermont.

Hopefully Phil Scott will announce that he's not running for re-election in 2026 so that if the governorship flips to blue by then, the new Democratic governor in Vermont would appoint the replacement at will, with a special election six months later according to Vermont state law.

(FWIW, Strom Thurmond served until he was 100, so I suppose Bernie could theoretically beat the record if he went for a 6th term in *2036*...)

I used to hate the idea of term limits. Experience is important. But as I've aged, my feelings have evolved. 5 terms for reps, 3 for senators, seems adequate. And judges retire at 70.

I imagine that he can’t step away from how much is at stake.
I’ll happily keep him on as long as he wants to run, but I hope he’s doing ok as well and not hurting himself by doing too much.

Or are they also calling for congressional term limits - either by getting Congress to do it with a 2/3 majority and 3/4 of states ratifying it? Or are they also asking the states to call for a constitutional convention on this issue?
