Even if you take the new swings at Biden's age as warranted, the obvious lesson is the quality and competency of the president's cabinet and staff matters, since clearly we were a lot better off by every measure under that "failing old man" than this one. But I don't see that conclusion being drawn.

100% agree with this though I’m not sure a majority of the electorate does, and that was the problem. The takeaway for me is he should never have run for the second term, not that he wasn’t more capable
Nobody can know, of course, but given results of elections worldwide which tossed incumbent parties, ANY Dem was likely to lose. And here, margin was smaller most of those!
I put much more blame on McConnell abdicating his duty. A conviction in 2nd impeachment trial would have ended this. Next, SCOTUS giving immunity. That would also have ended this.
If Biden had announced he would not seek reelect in 2023, then someone might have had a compelling case.
But 109 days made it impossible for it to be anyone else.
Considering the state of air travel, I’d take Mayor Pete over Real World derp any day of the week.
Something Trump has never been capable of. Ever. And Reagan did a Houdini.
Impeaching Reagan over Iran-Contra. Maybe even impeaching Bush over Iraq.
But every time time Republicans move the Overton Window, all Democrats seem willing to do is suggest using a Philips head screwdriver
Actually the Reagan precedent was quite bad - and Reps wanted it both ways: he was a ‘strong’ leader yet somehow completely unaware of Iran-Contra 🤦♂️
Was Biden declining? Sure. I thought that through long ago and decision was still easy: Harris would be POTUS if necessary. Q.E.D.
But nowhere else. And think, just think, of all the deification of Reagan we have. Even most of the never-Trumpers still revere that guy, that time, while dissing Biden/staff.
It’s driving me insane too
He shouldn’t have run for reelect, that much is clear.
Cleaning ketchup is more embarrassing.
And yet, here is is just two weeks ago, speaking in detail, and with lucidity.
