Both parties treat the presidency as a plum for their elders. We dodged a bullet in Reagan's case. In Biden's, not so much. As the top Democrat, he is responsible for the national crisis we're now in, but can we please move on, and go about cleaning up his mess? There is a lot of work to do.

Around the world, incumbent parties lost throughout 2024. And not in one political direction. And a bruising primary would not necessarily have helped that in any way.

Was Biden declining? Sure. I thought that through long ago and decision was still easy: Harris would be POTUS if necessary. Q.E.D.
