First time I've heard of that workflow.
I either have all the fits I want on a single avatar or modularize the outfits as prefabs to switch in and out.

I was wondering if having all of them in the same scene was better but it always feels too cluttered and may make unity slower if it has to load all of them.
I have all outfits on one avatar since I am not willing to maintain 100 versions, but that one avi has restrictions on things like VRAM to keep it light.
