In the USA they have normalized people paying $12,000 a year for Health Insurance, receiving absolutely nothing, then having to pay thousands or tens of thousands of dollars more if they actually get treatment.
They need to abolish Health Insurance, it's a scam.

But I am willing to consider alternatives. haha

"Insurance CEO salary ranges from the millions to tens of millions of dollars."

But car ins doesn't bankrupt me and generally pays out when I need it. I wouldn't call it the same level of scam.
in the U.S. gross ‘exploitation’ has been totally ‘normalised’!!
They'd rather people pay 18-19% of GDP for health insurance and bankrupt individuals than pay 10-11% of GDP in taxes for universal health care.
It's normal to pay $2k to $7k a year up front, and to have to pay up to about $12k (inclusive) if something really bad happens or for chronic high cost health issues like diabetes.
That being said... does your OOPM work differently? If your premium is $1100 per month on a typical corporate plan, you'd hit the OOPM in August on the premium alone, which seems off.
Our options this year:
HDHP: $3k (prem) + $10k (oopm) - $2k (hsa) = $11k
PPO: $7k (prem) + $8k (oopm) = $15k
Health Insurance >< Gun
America is fecking insane.
Fix yourselves you daft b'stards
Health insurance is essential and must be paid for.
If everybody pays, according to their income, into a not for profit organisation managed by, say, central government, then drug prices can be reduced by bulk purchase and leverage and *everybody* (except insurance CEOs) benefits.
Abolish *private*, *for profit* Health Insurance.
I.e., be like every other civilized, developed economy.
It. looks. like. you. actually. agree.
When you need it they try to worm out of
their policy!
Been there, done that. Got the Financial
Ombudsman letter to prove it!
Insurance companies are just thieves,
end of.
ALL of it.
Today, I got more feedback from my local friends. Apparently, in their national healthcare coverage there is a stipulation for visitors like myself. My medicine was not free. Because one of them I had to go to a pharmacy for.
That’s delay, deny, go away, and that’s with insurance.
If only they'd "get off their KNEES and FIGHT for their LIVES!"
Because, #PresidentMusk and the #PrivateHealthInsurers.. sure as hell WON'T!
If their democrats really gave an actual shit they would have addressed this under Clinton or Obama or Biden
US healthcare is a complete rip-off.
It was $1,500.
The tooth could have been saved with a root canal, but that would have been over $3k.
My rent only covered the tooth being pulled.
Now I have an unhappy landlord AND a hole in my smile.
USA is #1! 😒
Or your kidneys.
Or your diabetes.
Whatever. They will get you in the end.
Here in Southern Mexico, extraction costs $30-40. Root canal, $100.
And these are well trained doctors in clean offices.
It looked like it was modeled sometime in the 90s. The dentist literally put his knee on my chest and pulled with only lidocaine injections.
It was brutal. 😝
And then they charged me $1,500. 🤪
