Gary will continue to make a very nice living away from the BEEB, it sounded like he already has something lined up with Shearer & Richards probably on Sky.
He'll continue to have a voice on social media with less restriction on what he says. Gary will be fine.
The BBC however, is fucked.

Mr Lineker has his own (I believe) successful media company (goalhanger?) that produces many of the top podcasts in the uk, I think - the ones called 'The rest is .... '. And he hosts the football one with Shearer and Richards.

When the BBC sent an email asking for “my opinion”, I ignored them. Twice my email accounts were shut down. Not swearing but dissenting from their POV. It’s not liberal or as per the accusations being woke, but the opposite. It’s controlled conservatism.

I think leaving the BBC could be best thing that could have happened to him.
He’s now free to speak his mind without having to worry about putting the people he’s working with in the shit.

I think it's that he's leaving the dross behind and kept his principles intact. His behaviour frames the BBC and reaffirms our belief that they are not fit for purpose.
It's about his future. Not about a BBC that we've already written-off.
