Yep. That scene in The Big Lebowski where he gets his car back and gets laughed at when he asks about "leads" is legit. They do not care. These days people are having to retrieve their own stolen cars.

In DC the police asked people to report the car gps location to them instead because retrieving stolen cars could be dangerous. But then the police ignored the reports so people went back to retrieving their own cars 😂
