bc that’s the way MAGA Republicans operate
Why do I bother asking?
I can’t tell you the number of times I heard that growing up in Texas. You could talk about the First Amendment and they’d just say it louder: “America is a Christian nation!”
Or worse, they both know and don’t know — believing the Constitution gives *them* freedom of religion while also believing in their right to impose that religion on others — an exercise in doublethink.
Then they’d to to church lock-ins on the weekend and fuck in the raquetball courts.
And it didn’t — doesn’t — because they don’t actually believe anything.
That was never going to end well.
As many have said, they truly believe that “The law exists to bind others, and to protect me.”
--John 13:35
Our Constitution guarantees freedom of religion.
But yes, the people calling themselves “originalists” don’t actually give a shit what’s in our Constitution.
