Vinyl is reasonably cool but really there is no substitute for the original cassettes. The sound is more authentic.

I was really only kidding about authenticity, but it certainly is a thing. I was around for the Dead Head trading and copying of cassettes. The friend-of-a-friend phenomena is a thing, and some ppl loved the low-fi authenticity,
